California, California (sing it with me people)

It felt like I booked my ticket home ages ago and now the time has come to head back home. Everyone keeps asking me how I feel about going home. My first reaction is one of excitement, of course. I've already made a list of the things I must do when I get back.

1. Taco Bell drive-thru. First thing I said to my mom was we're hitting the closest TB the second we leave LAX. I swore after six years of eating that stuff I'd never miss it like I do now. I'd also like to do In N Out with my mom but she'd give me a lecture about eating beef and make me consume it on the sidewalk.
2. Hit the Banana Republic at South Coast Plaza. My Luxe card is waiting for me to burn a whole in it.
3. Go to the beach. I want to see blue water and blue skies together again.
4. Drive a car. I admit it, I miss it but I'm not looking forward to getting my ass on the 405 again.
5. Hanging out in CDM. Bandera's and El Ranchito here I come (that means you and me Shannon).
6. Get a mani/pedi. My poor feet have only been rubbed once since I left, it's truly a travesty.
7. See the six babies that have been born since I left. Seriously, people stop pro creating.
8. Listen to my man Ryan Seacreast on KISS FM, at this point I'd be happy listening to any radio station.
9. Last but not least, see my mom and all my friends.

Even though I'm excited to go home, I'd be lying if I didn't tell you I was scared too. I'm scared because of how I will feel when I have to leave. I'll get to live my old life again for 2 weeks and then I'll have to leave it behind again. Except this time it's not to start a new adventure and doing so with my mom by my side but instead heading back alone to my empty "home". Empty
because Tenielle is off to Italy with her mom and will be their for the next few weeks and then she'll be headed back to the US. Who is going to make me fabulous Italian meals when I get home from work, talk ghetto slang with me, or go to Mexicali for burritos and guacamole? In all seriousness, it's been so great having her here and we've become true roomies and the best of friends again. I'm going to miss her!

Ok, back to packing way too much! See you all in 24 hours and in person!

I'm Officially Over It

By it, I mean the weather. Everyone warned me the weather in London would be bad. I got through December and sure there were a couple of days that I couldn't feel my fingers but I stuck them into some gloves and I was good to go. Then January rolled around and I figured the worst was behind me. For some reason everyone at work kept telling me to brace myself. I thought they were exaggerating and just trying to scare me. I mean, how bad could it be? Bad people, bad!

This entire week has been filled with nothing but dark grey skies, torrential rain, and horrible wind. Now, rain I can take, and wind I can manage, hello I grow up with those lovely Santa Ana's. But when rain and wind combine, that's a whole 'nother ball game that I wasn't prepared for nor was my umbrella this morning. I've never complained about my commute, in fact I've sang it praises to most of you. However, at 7:50 am, when it's dark outside and you're standing at the bus stop and the wind is wreaking havoc on your hair, your purse is getting drenched, and your umbrella decides to invert itself and serve no purpose, all you can think of is how how much you hate public transportation and you would give anything to be driving a car. I'm thinking at this point it can't get worse. Again, wrong! I get off the train and make my way to work. I walk down the same street I do everyday but today I get greeted with a giant wind storm and hail, which basically whips my entire body around and breaks my umbrella in the process. This wind was strong that I couldn't even move. It was like being stuck in some vortex. You'd think my co-workers who were walking with me would help me in someway. Oh no, they thought it would be better to stand their laughing their asses off instead. All I can say is by the time I made it to work I looked like I had been through the ringer. I was quite a sight!

Can I tell you how glad I am to be coming home to what I hope is sunny skies and not a raindrop in sight, cause the forecast here calls for another week of this crap! California, here I come.

Camden Town

Last weekend T and I decided to venture out of Central London, since we've practically explored so much of it already, and head North. A lot of people had recommended going to Camden. It's the punk rock part of town and where all the rockers live like Amy Winehouse. So in hopes of having a Wino sighting we hopped on the tube last Sunday and landed in Camden. I say landed, because being there was like being on a different planet. The town had a vibe all its on and let's just it wasn't radiating Earth vibes. I felt like I was in a fun zone with clowns and circus freaks but in a good way. The popular thing to do in Camden is hit the markets. They're like flea marts but with way better merchandise and are located both outside and inside. T and I got our shop on and the next thing we knew our hands were filled with bags of goodies. Purses, dresses, hats, souvenirs, etc.. The other interesting thing about Camden is part of the town is attached to canal. It was really cold by the time we got to canal shops so we didn't explore too much but I could see it being a great place to hang out during the summer months. Camden is also full of food stands on every corner. People hawking Chinese, Indian, even good old fashioned donuts to the crowds passing by. I resisted the temptation this time but I plan on indulging the next time I'm there. I've attached some photos of our adventure so you can get a taste of this wacky town.

Sorry to report no Wino sightings this time around!

Winter Wonderland

I've rarely seen it snow in my life.. the last time I saw snow was in 1988 when it snowed in California. It started snowing today in London. I got so excited! It's cold as heck, but the snow is so beautiful. I'll try and take some pictures later today so you can all check it out.

Dont Try This At Home

This was too funny not to post, then again, maybe it's only funny after you've had a couple... Warning, this video contains profanity and straight up crazy!

New Year, New Do!

Happy New Year!! How is it already 2008? This past year has been a whirlwind. I almost feel like I had two separate years rolled into one. The first half of 2007- living my life in the OC, working, spending time with family and friends, lots of weddings, overall just enjoying life. Then the second half of the year, moving across the world to a new place I'd never been, where I knew no one, and starting over. If you would have asked me last January where I'd be in a years time never in a million years would I have guessed London. But here I am, enjoying ever moment, and soaking it all in!

I figured it was a new year, new life, so why not start with a new hair do. I wasn't feeling too brave but brave enough to let some strange man who barely spoke an English, drank Bailey's out of a wine glass, had crazy eyes while he used his scissors, cut my hair while it was still dry. Who cuts hair dry?? I had no idea what I had signed up for, but in the end it was pure brilliance. I loved it!

All things considered my new year's eve was pretty tame. NOT! Let's run through the night. Drinking bottle after bottle of Vueve, clearing out the dance floor to shake my thing to 50 Cent, making out with multiple boys in one night, missing the countdown, and then running home in your high heels, while it's raining and leaving all your friends behind at the club. Nice! Let's just say New Year's day was not pretty and hopefully not indicative of what's in store for me for the rest of the year. But at least I had fun :)

Here's to a great 2008 filled with hope, happiness, and love.
